Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical procedure which gently resurfaces the skin. This exfoliation is performed with medical grade mineral crystals or diamond tip which brushes the skin's surface creating a gentle vacuum. This action removes dead and damaged cells at the skin's surface. By eliminating these surface cells, the skin is left soft and supple while forcing the regeneration of new skin cells.

Microdermabrasion can be used for reduction of:

• Scars
• Hyperpigmentation
• Fine lines
• Sun damaged skin
• Blemishes
• Dull and congested skin
• Uneven skin tones and textural damaged skin
• Enlargened pore

The procedure is not very painful and requires no anesthetic. Microdermabrasion can be used medically for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars. There is very little, if any, evidence that microdermabrasion stimulates collagen formation. Microdermabrasion can also be used for treatment of acne, but must be repeated periodically to be effective. Microdermabrasion should not be used on patients who have taken the medication Accutane in the previous twelve months.
